Hot springs have a very long history in Japan, and they are an intimate part of Japanese culture. There are over 3,000 "onsen" ,or hot springs, in Japan. Many can be found at the ryokans available on Japanese Guest Houses.

Welcome to the Hotel Makoto. This Ryokan Hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal on Miyajima Island. There are 44 Japanese-style rooms in the Hotel Makoto, and each guest room has its own private bath and toilet. A shared bath is available to both women and men (same gender only). A small “family bath” is also provided for the guests (a family can hang a sign outside of the bath and bathe privately - please ask at the front desk for details). Fresh seafood dishes are served at the Hotel Makoto, and all of the seafood is from the Seto Inland Sea. Check-in time is after 3:00pm and check-out time is after 10:00am.
