Hot springs have a very long history in Japan, and they are an intimate part of Japanese culture. There are over 3,000 "onsen" ,or hot springs, in Japan. Many can be found at the ryokans available on Japanese Guest Houses.

Welcome to the Hotel Urashima. This huge Ryokan Hotel has 4 separate buildings and it is located on a peninsula. The Hotel Urashima has a total of 575 Japanese-style rooms and 5 Western-style rooms. There are indoor and outdoor hot spring baths for both women and men (same gender only) at the Hotel Urashima, and there are also hot spring cave baths to experience. The women’s hot spring baths are located on the 3rd floor of the “Hinodete” building, and they can accommodate up to 150 bathers. The men’s hot spring baths are located on the 1st floor of the “Honkan” (main building), and they can accommodate up to 300 bathers. Some of the hot spring baths at the Hotel Urashima are open 24 hours a day. The outdoor hot spring baths with views of the Pacific Ocean can hold up to 500 bathers, and they are open from 5:00am until 12:00 midnight. An adult and a children’s swimming pool are also available. Buffet-style meals are served to the guests. Check-in time is after 2:00pm and check-out time is before 10:00am. English and Cantonese are spoken and parking is available.
