It is a 15 minute taxi ride from JR Kyoto train station to Ishicho Shogikuen longer during rush hour). If you go by subway, take the Karasuma Subway Line from Kyoto Station, switch trains to the Tozai Subway Line at Karasumaoike Station, and get off at Kyotoshiyakusho-Mae; from there it is 5 minutes by foot to Ishicho Shogikuen.
