What is a Ryokan? Ryokans are the best way to experience Japanese culture and enjoy the true comforts of Japanese hospitality and service.
Hot springs have a very long history in Japan, and they are an intimate part of Japanese culture. There are over 3,000 "onsen" ,or hot springs, in Japan. Many can be found at the ryokans available on Japanese Guest Houses.
To reach Kusatsu Onsen Boun; 1) From Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi station, please take a local bus to Kusatsu Onsen (25 minute ride). From the Kusatsu Onsen bus stop, please call the ryokan and they will come to pick you up. 2) From Shinjuku in Tokyo; from the Busta Shinjuku (bus terminal), please take the Express bus (reservations are required) to Kusatsu Onsen bus stop. It's a 3 and a half hour ride. It's operated by JR Express Bus. From the Kusatsu Onsen bus stop, please call the ryokan and they will come to pick you up.
