Hot springs have a very long history in Japan, and they are an intimate part of Japanese culture. There are over 3,000 "onsen" ,or hot springs, in Japan. Many can be found at the ryokans available on Japanese Guest Houses.
From JR Tazawako train station, it is a 25 minute taxi ride to Taenoyu. By bus, please take the Ugokotsu Bus bound for Nyuto Onsen and get off at the Taenoyu Onsen Mae bus stop. From the Taenoyu Onsen Mae bus stop it's a 1 minute walk to Taenoyu.
