Hirado is an island in northwestern Nagasaki Prefecture. Hirado Island is a beautiful and historic location full of interesting museums, Christian churches, white sandy beaches and an imposing castle. Hirado has been a port of call for ships between the Asian mainland and Japan since the Nara period. Hirado has a humid subtropical climate with very warm summers and cool winters. Precipitation is significant throughout the year, but is much higher in the summer.Travel within the area is convenient by car.
